Getting to Know Us

What makes Lily Valley Journeys different from other tour companies?

We’re small on purpose. Every journey is designed for just 4–6 women, so you’re never just a name on a list — you’re part of a circle. We handle every detail, from the moment you land to the moment you head home, so all you have to do is show up and be open to the adventure.

Who are these trips designed for?

Women 50 and over who are ready to say yes to themselves — whether that’s your first solo trip, a return to travel after a busy season of life, or simply a new way to see Europe. Some of our travelers come solo, some come with a friend. Everyone leaves with new ones.

Do I need to come with a friend, or can I travel solo?

Most of our travelers come on their own — and that’s exactly what we designed for. From your first pre-trip call to your last dinner together, our journeys are built to help women connect naturally. You’ll never be the only one arriving without a companion.

What’s included in my trip?

Generally, your trip price covers boutique accommodations, daily breakfast and most other meals, airport transfers, transportation throughout the journey, expert local guides, all listed activities, and the warm support of your host throughout. Each journey page lists the specific inclusions, so you’ll always know what to expect.

Safety, Comfort & Group Experience

How many women travel together on a trip?

We keep our groups intimate — typically 4 to 6 women — so there’s room for real conversations, flexibility in the day, and the kind of connections that last well beyond the trip itself.

Are the accommodations and itineraries vetted for safety and comfort?

Yes, always. Every hotel, transfer, and experience is personally vetted before it makes it onto an itinerary. We choose places we’d happily stay ourselves — comfortable, well-located, and safe.

What fitness level do I need to join a trip?

Our journeys include some walking, cobblestones, and the occasional staircase — it’s part of what makes European travel so charming. Each trip page notes its general activity level, and if you have questions about a specific itinerary, just reach out. We’re happy to talk through what to expect and how we can support you.

Are the rooms private?

Yes, every traveler has her own room as part of the trip price. We love bringing women together during the day, but everyone deserves a quiet, comfortable space to retreat to at night.

What if I have dietary restrictions or health considerations?

Just let us know when you book. We’ll do our best to accommodate dietary needs throughout the trip, and we’re always happy to talk through any health considerations ahead of time so you can travel with peace of mind.

Booking, Payments & Cancellations

How do payments work?

It’s simple and gradual. A deposit of 10% of your trip cost secures your spot, and then equal monthly payments carry you toward your final balance, due 90 days before departure. No surprises — just steady, manageable steps toward your journey.

What if my plans change and I need to cancel?

We understand that life happens. If you need to step back more than 90 days before your trip, we’ll refund everything you’ve paid — no questions asked. Inside the 90-day window, your deposit helps us honor the commitments we’ve made to the wonderful local guides and partners who make your trip possible, so it isn’t refundable at that point. That said, if we’re able to offer your spot to someone on our waitlist, we’ll refund everything you’ve paid, deposit included. We’ll always do what we can.

Is there a waitlist if a trip is full — or if I need to cancel?

Yes. Our waitlist helps us keep groups full for the women joining, and gives us a way to make cancellations easier on travelers who need to step back. If you’re interested in a trip that’s full, ask us about joining the waitlist — spots open up more often than you might think.

Do you recommend travel insurance?

We do. While we handle as much as we can on our end, travel insurance gives you extra peace of mind for the things outside anyone’s control — from flight delays to the unexpected. We’re happy to point you toward a few options if you’d like.

Travel Logistics

Do I need a passport or visa?

Most of our European journeys require a valid passport with at least 6 months of validity remaining past your return date. Visa requirements vary by destination and by your nationality — once you’ve booked, we’ll let you know exactly what you’ll need and how to go about it.

How do I get from the airport to where the group is staying?

Airport transfers on arrival and departure days are included in your trip — just share your flight details with us ahead of time, and we’ll take care of the rest.

I still have questions — what’s the best way to reach you?

We’d love to hear from you. Reach out anytime through our contact page, and Monica (or a member of her team) will get back to you personally — because every question deserves a real answer, not a form letter.
